The Man Behind the Iron Mask

About Me

I am a mirror; I reflect the light in you. I am the moon; I shine because of you.

I am a very unusual person. I am a semi-vegetarian and a southpaw (left hander). I also gave up my life to become a netizen (Internet citizen). There are two things you wouldn't want to take away from me: my computer and my privacy. The later comes from the fact that I am a very shy person. Trust me; you've never met anyone as shy as me. There are several things you can do to help me, though. First, don't stare and second, don't whisper.

My Future

I must admit that I don't know what my future would be. Nobody knows. However, I know where I want to be, who I want to be and who I want to be with. Now let's start with who I want to be with. I want to be with a woman who loves me and respects me for who I am. I'd be someone who's really happy because of the power of love and friendship. That's why I am gonna need you there. Salma's gonna provide all the loving and you are gonna be my friend forever and we would be young forever. That doesn't mean I wanna be in the club though. I wanna be in a simple but elegant house with a very big compound. I want to have flowers all around me with a swimming pool and a basketball court.

My Past

I had come from the East, South and North to the West; but my identity was more complex than that. My father tells me that we are Susu and that his father comes from a village in Lungi called Ro Ponka. My grandfather left the village at a very young age and therefore could hardly speak Susu. My father too never got to learn the language or culture and that was how I lost part of my identity. I have however picked up some Temne from my father who learnt the language during his long stay at Makeni when he was a boy.

I can speak Krio and English with little Temne and French. I started nursery school at the Red Cross School in Makeni. I started primary school at Eva Houston, Thunder Hill, Freetown. When we left Brima Lane for Wellington, I left Eva Houston for SLIMS. In 2000, I took the N.P.S.E. exam at the Sierra Leone International Mission School (SLIMS) and topped my school. I was a very brilliant student at primary level. However, that changed when I went to secondary school.

I entered the Albert Academy with the sixth best grade from the N.P.S.E. but I finished my first year there in 15th position. Although I managed to stay in the best form all my years in junior secondary school, it was a constant struggle for me each year. It got worse at SSS 1 where I nearly failed. I had an average below 50 but I was promoted because I still fulfilled the requirement which was to pass 5 subjects. I did just that. I started recovery from my bad form at SSS 2, but it was too little too late. At W.A.S.S.C.E., I passed 7 subjects, but had only 3 college requirements. I went to the ACCESS CLASS at FBC to study engineering in 2006 but was unsuccessful. Between the years of 2007 and 2009, I did the CompTIA N+ and A+ certification at SiliconPro. In 2009, I enrolled for the certificate program at IPAM.

I found the certificate course very challenging because I was a science student at the Albert Academy. I adapted slowly but managed to get good grades. In 2010, I started classes in the main stream as an Information Systems department student. I switched to the Business Admin department two weeks later because the competition for space was very keen. I have spent two month in the Business Admin class and I am now fully integrated. I have managed to get over my shyness and now I participate in class and lead presentation teams. I also joined the Readers Club to help broaden my horizon and shape my future career.
